Umihannie Tukimin

Hanie is a coach and an HRDF-certified trainer. She graduated from the International Islamic University Malaysia with a major in English Language and Literature and a minor in Islamic Revealed Knowledge and a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching with distinction. Before she assumed her current role as Senior Advisor in LeapEd Services, she was a teacher where she taught English and Humanities to primary kids at an international school before she moved on to teach IGCSE First Language English, English Literature and World History.

Since joining LeapEd in 2014, Hanie has facilitated training sessions for colleagues, teachers and state/district education officers, focusing on coaching, school transformation, teaching pedagogy and soft skills like research, teamwork and communication. She also has developed and delivered modules to high performing students and student leaders. Because she used to teach and be around students in the early part of her working life, she has a soft spot for them and always appreciates every opportunity to engage with them.

Hanie believes that coaching has tremendously improved the way she looks at things in life. Her mission now is to encourage people to enjoy coaching and use it to develop themselves while they use it to develop others. Umihannie is currently pursuing her Master of Development Studies in the University of Malaya on the effectiveness of cash transfer in the education of Orang Asli. Once a month, one can find her volunteering at a school for Rohingya children in Ampang.
